This answer was rated:

transferring files from MacBook to new Macbook Air using USB stick. Transfers files but won't open as 'too old" . Says "Open in Pages 09" ????
How to do that?
Hi there,If the files were created in Pages 09, then you will need to install Pages 09 on the new MacBook Air so that you can still open the old files.

The second part of my question re 'open in Pages 09" was "How to do that?

The files were created in Pages 08

How do I instal Pages 09?

I notice you have already gone and rated my service as poor :(
Are you giving up on this??
Can you go to About This Mac > More Info > System Report > Software
and let me know what all versions of Pages are currently installed?

Hi Pete

This is getting too complicated. Since you gave me your advice in good faith, I'm quite willing to change your rating to good. When I went into the website I had no idea I would be dealing with someone in the USA until I saw the time 'EST' (Eastern Standard Time).

Thank you for your advice. I will find another way to deal with the problem, even if it means making hard copies of all the files.

With very best wishes
