Brand new MacBookPro. Just getting it up and running and its out of memory! 127GB is System. 14GB is my work stuff and the rest I don't know. Does this sound right?

If you use applications that use a lot of cache storage like video editing software this could be the cause.

Try emptying your Cache folder.

1. Click Finder, then click the Go menu at the top and click Go To Folder.

2. Type ~/Library/Cache/ and click Go.

3. Click Edit - Select All then File - Move to Trash.

4. Restart your mac and check how much free space there is.

That should free up some space, but if there is still way too much space taken up you can try the free application OmniDiskSweeper to see what is taking up so much space.
