Hello tbere,

Has the engine oil pressure been verified with a workshop gauge as within min specs?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Oil and filter change yesterday and a regeneration+ software update, only 7450 miles since last March service. I checked oil on dipstick and it’s right on the full mark after service, I’ve read that diesel fuel will
Mix with the oil over time and the level will rise again?? 25000 miles now overall.
Expert:  Gary replied 5 months ago.

Fuel might contaminate the oil, but if the level does rise, there is an issue.

All engines burn oil, some get contaminated, so some stay at about the correct level, some go down, and some go up.

Is yours really the oil PRESSURE lamp coming on?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
The red oil light has come on and a separate warning “ low oil pressure" instruction
It has happened about nine months after both 2016 and 2017 annual service.
I would do quite a lot of short journeys between home and work 3 miles roughly.
I do push it on the motorway on occasions and the engine is quite and smooth.
Sounds healthy.
Expert:  Gary replied 5 months ago.

Does this only happen at hot idle?

I can't see this being software related.

Has the dealer physically checked the oil pressure with a workshop gauge?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Both times while moving along, will give you quite a fright and after a rest period pluss overnight will not go off.
1st occasion was lifted by Mazda back to dealer, 2nd time I drove the following morning slowly to dealer 15 miles away.
I Don’t know if they did that test.
Expert:  Gary replied 5 months ago.

Starting to sound more like an intermittent wiring fault.

If the engine truly had low oil pressure, it would have failed mechanically by now.

Cars is still under warranty, so are you going back to the dealer?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Gary every time, I love the car the engine is a cracker and very economical,
It’s a wolf in sheeps clothing the Mazda 3.
I was going to replace it in March 18 with the same model but have some doubt now.
It ticked all the right boxes for me,
Thanks for your advice
Happy Christmas to you and family..CB
Expert:  Gary replied 5 months ago.

The dealer needs to get their act together.

Have they seen the fault happen?

I hope they sort it for you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

Kind regards.
