Have they given you any reason for the low platelet count?

What medications/treatment have been given?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

no .they said try green veg.and take some iron teblets.

Thank you:

There is no specific food that increases platelet counts. A balanced healthy diet that includes fresh fruits and vetegables will prevent any vitamin deficiencies that could be contributing to this problem.

If you doctor has not checked your B12 level, you may want to ask if this would be appropriate.

There honestly is NO evidence that any particular food is going to lower your platelet count. A good healthy diet is your best approach.

hi,can i take multivitamins which one is good for me.many thanks

Expert:  Family Physician replied 5 years ago.
Generally there is no reason why you could not safely take a multivitamin. There are a number of quality brands available. I am based in the USA (and it appears that you are in the UK), so I am not sure of any specific brands in your location. Your local pharmacist could recommend a brand that included 100% of the daily recommended intake of multiple vitamins.

Omega-3 supplements can actually interfere with platelet function - increasing the risk of heavy bleeding (particularly in women).

The balanced diet containing fruits and vegetables may be helpful, and in women, adding iron often is reasonable to reduce risk of anaemia in cases with heavy menstrual periods.

There honestly is not much scientific evidence supporting benefit from specific supplements in thrombocytopenia.
