Hello I am 33 years old, average build and a social smoker.

Customer Question

I am 33 years old, average build and a social smoker. For the past 2 months I have felt short of breath in day to day activities and need to take a deep breath occasionally to feel better, it almost feels like I am forgetting to breath. I have recently started to train for a half marathon, during and after running I do not feel the breathlessness sensation if anything I feel better. If my mind is preoccupied I do not feel the breathlessness as much. I am currently working in west Africa and will not be able to see a doctor for another month. I have been self diagnosing on the internet which is the worst possible thing to do hence the concern. I have no history of asthma or other medical issues. Is there anything you can suggest to help or any other symptoms I should look out for and consider returning home earlier to get checked out?

Hello from JA
How long have you been smoking
How many ciggarettes a day..
By the way, we can not diagnose you here, but can answer questions
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

I've been smoking for probably 8 years but on average probably only 2 or 3 cigarettes a day, some times I go weeks without one and other times I may have 6 or 7 in a night so difficult to say.

What is wrong can not be determined unless you have
An exam. Required.

Maybe: pulmonary function tests
Chest x ray.

Lung disease, heart problems, or illnesses such as asthma could all cause this as an early symptoms.

So can anxiety.

But that can not be differentiated without exam.

At least see a doctor for an exam as soon as possible.

Treatment can not be suggested without this.
