Hello from JA

Regular medicine would say no.

However, it can add to a problem with diabetes, as you should be eating low glycemic index vegetables if you have diabetes.

Bananas are not ripened on the tree, they are shipped. This creates a problem because as they ripen off the treat, latex like compounds are formed. The same with any shipped fruit, but bananas, avacado, and kiwi as examples always have high levels of this compound, which we are learning contributes to a lot of illness...autoimmunity, etc.

So, because of these more recent considerations, I avoid bananas altogether.

I use the rarely, for flavoring a dessert.

There is no specific health benefit from bananas that can't be gained better from another food.
