My grandson is 32 months old and is not yet speaking ,he shows a complete understand on instructions to do tasks and acts on his own initiative.He makes sounds and gables on but not words you can understand .he is currently on 3rd visit to a speech therapist.could there be an underlying medical reason or brain development issue.He was late in walking.

Not necessarily.

He should actually be assessed by a pediatri8c neruologist, however, there are cases where children are simply delayed in starting to talk without explanation.

Autism has to be ruled out of course, but you are not giving any indication that he has this./

It sounds slimply like a developmental delay just based on your description.
