I am 57 years old , stopped smoking 20 years ago (10 per day) since 2012 i have constant excess mucous production and generalised lung inflammation , i have had some exposure to dust from sand/gritblasting for 5 years my x ray was clear but a private lung scan showed some damage , no cancer showed , lung function spirometer test was clear , i still work hard but get very tired at the end of the day , what should i do next , no actual diagnoses has been given , have i got stage 1 emphysema ?

I would suggest that you ask your GP to refer you to a pulomonary Dr, a lung specialist. You need an accurate diagnosis. In order to do this, pulmonary function testing is necessary. I do see that you have had spirometry but more testing is indicated.

You do have some symptoms of COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, excess mucous and throat clearing, fatigue and lack of energy.
