I have swelling under both ears now for 20 days.i have been to my doctor who queried mumps..been back ay my doctor who referred me to casualty.they seem to think its a viral infection.swelling still there ears feel bungef up but they say they are clear.i also have sore throt

Swelling under both ears is likely to be due to swelling of the salivary glands - mumps being a very common cause. Mumps is caused by a viral infection. Mumps can cause sore throat and blocked ears as well.

But these symptoms can also be due to bacterial infection - augmentin will work well if you do have a bacterial infection.

Viral infection has no specific treatment except fluids etc.

Your doctor has put you on the right treatment.
