Hi, i know doctors completely dont recommend anabolic steroids

Customer Question

Hi, i know doctors completely don't recommend anabolic steroids because of the effects they can have on some people but i just wanted some more information on the use of them and their real effect on health, can you die or have any serious side effects even when taking the correct dose and when on the recommended course duration that your on them? Also do they interact with anti-epileptic medication and anti-depressants?

Greetings !

Welcome to the site.

I am Dr. Kaushik and i believe i can help you with your query.

Well you see anabolic steroids which are performance enhancing drugs have high potential for Addiction and abuse even when used at lower dose and short period which often lead to serious and sometimes fatal side effects such as Myocardial Infarction ( Heart Attack), stroke, pulmonary embolus and deep vein thrombus ( blood clot formation ) which may lead to fatality, liver failure, liver toxicity, short stature, infertility, baldness, breast development in males ( gynaecomastia) etc.

Yes a person may even die due to use of anabolic steriods. You see the intake of anabolic steroids usually starts at the correct recommended dose and duration but due to it's high potential for addiction person starts craving for higher doses due to inefficacy of previous dose as the body tends to become more tolerant to the lower doses and want higher dose to produce the same effect, so eventually even against the wish of person his body's need for the steroids makes him a slave of this compound often leading to addiction and over-dosing which ultimately can lead to heart attack or stroke and death.

Secondly, anabolic steroids tend to decrease the efficiency of liver to metabolize drugs like anti epileptics and anti depressants thereby affecting their elimination from the body system and leading to the risk of disproportionate and dangerously high levels of these drugs in the blood stream which may lead to toxicity and side effects.

So you see there are a lot of valid reasons which support the doctors suggestions world over for not using anabolic steroids due to the above mentioned adverse effects it may bring along compromising one's health, so now it is up to you to calculate the benefits which you are going to reap from it's use and whether these benefits will out-do the risk and dis-benefits that may perhaps be encountered during it's use.
The final call is yours.

I hope this makes sense.

Wish you all the best.
