My 15 year old daughter has had bouts of vomiting and pain

This answer was rated:

My 15 year old daughter has had bouts of vomiting and pain for over a year. 2 days ago her pain worsened on her right side and she could no longer deal with it and she was admitted into hospital a scan showed a cyst on her left ovary but they couldn't see her right one as her bowel was full of gas. They put the pain down to a burst cyst but after I insisted they did a scan the next day and they still could not see her ovary and there was no fluid to indicate a burst cyst. A ldh and afp blood test showed the levels in her good to be 59%. The doctors have sent her home with pain relief and a scan in a few weeks time. I am very worried and feel time is of the essence and I'm unhappy with the delay in her diagnosis what is it am I right to worry?
The question here is, has she had a scope of the stomach?
Has she had a scan of the gallbladder?

no they did an ultrasound and could not see much because of gases in her bowel. the person doing the scan recomended an mri but they didnt follow up on it. they said they were reluctant to do any kind of surgery as shes so yound and they have sent her home with codine.

So I would take her back and
a. insist on proper scanning of the gallbladder.
b. ask for an h pylori test, which will see if she has the bacteria that causes stomach inflammation and ulcers, and can upset the digestion as well.

I would not simply leave things as they are.

they are scanning her in the future. does the levels in her blood test sound like something i should be worried about?

No way to tell
You have given me one value for two different test
I would need the exact values and reference ranges.
I think you have given me the LDH, which is fine, it is normal.

There is no reason she would have an elevated alpha fetal protein at this ovarian cysts are common.

ok thank you.

You are welcome
I think the money here is in the gallbladder or stomach/duodenum.
Ask them specifically about this.

good luck
