I suffered a sand fly bite in January which has been "treated"

Customer Question

I suffered a sand fly bite in January which has been "treated" by my local GP and his nursing staff. It has been an open wound on my lower leg just above ankle level. It is re-dressed daily but shows no sign of healing. What suggestions can you offer?

It is likely to be a staph bacteria that needs to be treated.
Get a cream from your doctor called mupiricin and apply this 3 times a day.

If it does not heal, a circulation problem needs to be ruled out.
Sometimes non healing ulcers also need surgical cleaning.

Most likely it is an ineffectively treated bacterial infection.
