i have a broken ankle that has misaligned when repaired and now have to have surgery with choice of pins or have ankle fused. what do u recommend. i am 57 yrs with diabetes.

dr said pins and then fuse if not successful...then said will have to break fibula to realign....i said i was already tired of six weeks in plaster so he said fuse will be his recommendation as will stop pain and only one op. Does diabetes affect healing?

But with physical therapy you can heal.

Fusion will limit flexibility
