I have suffered from male pattern baldness since 17, but also

Customer Question

I have suffered from male pattern baldness since 17, but also shed diffusly on scalp back of scalp also which is not typical with mpb. I recently noticed I lost almost all hair on my shins except some scraggly broken hairs. This may have been from friction but it was symetrical and strange as there was a clear line where the hair stopped and started. I have normal amounts of body hair but pubic. Hair sheds a bit also. Could I have a hormone imbalance? How likely is a hormone imbalance that can cause these symptoms, to also effect fertility? Many thanks

Hello, thank you for your question.

High levels of testosterone can be associated with male pattern baldness but this would not affect your fertility. Some men have naturally higher levels than others and it does not mean there is an underlying hormone problem.
The hair loss on the legs does sound like friction, the clear line you noticed was probably where the friction stopped. The fact there were some scraggly broken hairs visible on the legs would certainly suggest these hairs were broken off by friction.

I hope this helps.
Best wishes.
