Hello. I keep getting blood come out of my vagina every now and again.. And when it does it gives me a lot of pain. This morning It happened again and my stomach is really bad , it feels as if I am being stabbed. The blood is also brown. Went to my doctors and told him , he made me take a pregnancy test and it shown negative & he said I might have am infection and gave me anti biotics. My stomach pains are now getting really really bad now. I don't know what to do.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

You need to have an ultrasound of your pelvis to show what the inside of your uterus contains.

Customer: Hello
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Customer: Do I? I can't cope with this pain anymore. I'm in agony.
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Considering you have antibiotics and are now experiencing worse pain, those antibiotics may be insufficient for what you need. You may have another problem entirely which is why you need the ultrasound

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

You need to go to the ER for this.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

And that is the only way to get stronger (intravenous) antibiotics if needed.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

an ultrasound is the first test you need done and depending on those results a CT may be ordered.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Also a more direct evaluation of the uterus might be needed (with a scope)

Customer: Ok thankyou. What could be causing this? As I am in agony
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

But there is nothing you can do at home for this and only delaying this will cause more problems.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

There are many many causes.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

A pregnancy which has aborted and is stuck inside the uterus, a fibroid or polyp within the uterus which has fallen off and bled possibly trapped in the uterus.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Or a severe infection by itself or complicated upon the other possibilities I mentioned

Customer: Oh no :( should I go to hospital right now do you think ?
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Yes now

Customer: And when I have took a pregnancy test it came back negative. Could I still be pregnant ?
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

This does need relatively urgent attention in the ER.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

This is not something to be treated at home

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

it needs a more urgent definitive evaluation with ultrasound

Customer: Oh no :( thankyou. I was feeling sick a couple of weeks ago too
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Please do not put off going to the ER

Customer: I won't I'll have to go now then. Oh I hate hospitals :(. But I'm in agony so looks like I am going to have to go :(
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Best of luck. It is better to do it now than to have even more complications

Customer: Thankyou so much! X
Daniel Sheibley, MD :

No problem.
