Hi, Ive had a pain now in my right-hand side adobmem, it sometimes stretches to my kidneys, especially my right-hand side.. my other symptoms have been nausea, feeling generally ill, loss of appetite and pain in my stomach.. I went to the doctors and he sent me to hospital to be assessed, he thought it could be appendix or kidney stones.. they did an abdomen xray and also blood tests and they all came back fine.. they now think ive got gallstones but was happy to send me home, without any more testing.. since im back home, i still have a very sensitive stomach and pains between my shoulder blades, and still feeling sick and loss of appetite, and aching over my kidney areas.. if it is my gallstones why didn't they do anything about it.. Is problems with the gallbladder not an urgent matter.. I noticed my pains got worse after eating some cream a week ago....

I am Dr Ken and I will be helping you today.

Was ultrasound of abdomen/ upper GI scopy obtained? Do you have any diagnosed medical condition?

Hiya...there was an xray on my abdomen, which they said was ok. but waiting on an ultra sound hopefully next week. blood tests were also clear, but at the beginning of the week i had blood and protien in my urine, but was clear 5 days after the antibitics

X ray abdomen may miss gall stones many a times as the calculi may not be radio-opaque. However these are easily picked up on ultrasound. Having a gall bladder calculus is not an emergency. However having severe pain, vomiting can suggests inflammation of the gall bladder {cholecystitis}.

I am happy that the blood and protein in urine cleared after antibiotic course {this indicates that the infection was cleared}. This relieves me.

Next step - Wait for ultrasound to get peace of mind. Till than - Cranberry juice help/ Warm compress, Ibuprofen should give relief from pain/ avoid alcohol, smoking.

Wish you well.

Hi thanks for the answers, just one thing, if i do have gallbladder inflammation, would that of shown up in my blood test of Abdomen, or is it something they can only confirm by ultrasound....and do you know how long this feeling sick and loss of appetite, will last for, been just over a week now..

Gall bladder inflammation is appreciated on ultrasound study. It may not be diagnosed on blood tests.

It may take 2-3 weeks to heal. It depends on the severity though.
