my husband was diagnosed with dementia in January.Has had awful cough since April.Since have had two exrays.two courses of antibiotics and three bottles of linctus but cough still persists GPs seem to given up.Desperate to know what to do
Hi. This could well be a gastric reflux problem with the acid welling up in his throat and into his lungs causing a chemical bronchitis. It's also possible he has an asthma problem even if there's no wheezing. I would try him on two weeks of something like omprazole to see if it's reflux, but I would also get pulmonary function tests to check for asthma
