I have twins!
was this IVF? or naturally conceived?
It was naturally conceived
any previous pregnancies
Yes one 3 months ago and had a natural miscarriage
so this will be your 2nd miscarriage
how old are you/
Yes, but it is not happening naturally. Embryos are there and I feel ok
yes I am 33
Can I send you my files from the scan?
I think I have the information I need from what you describe
Did you get a quantitative bhcg?
Ok- that is a pretty crucial test
because the quant should be doubling at this time
They only perform scans and from that they are convinced the pregnancy is not on-going
and you will be able to know within 48 hours if the pregnancy is progressing
Why did the babies stop growing?
(if this is indeed the case)
They haven't said
nothing to do with you- usually there is some major chromosomal issue
2. You can give them more time
So stopping growth is a sign that there is a problem with the babies genetics?
usually they will want to do a D&C (surgical procedure after 9 weeks)
Yes, I have seen some babies miraculously grow
Even if the heart is not beating?
did they ever have a heart beat?
They only checked through scans
One baby measures 8.8mm and the other 2.8mm
well, if they had a heartbeat and no longer have one, then you don't have any luck
but if they never had one, then it is possible that you may see one on a repeat scan
Even after no growth?
No growth was shown in one week
yes, because the measurements are not 100% accurate- they are a best estimation
and how the babies are seen on the scan
at that moment in time
so you have two options
1. quant bhcg- see if it is rising
2. repeat scan in 1 week
Honestly, I would wait it out and get either 1 or 2
I would not terminate quite yet
I would want conclusive evidence
Is the quant bhcg accurate? They said my body will still have high levels of hormones due to twin pregnancy
they will still double
I knew this too
the bhcg is a baseline- they measure how quickly it is rising and that is static (at least 2x every 48 hours)
Can I perform this test at home, or it needs to be done by a doctor / clinic?
What if the bhcg is rising? What happens then?
Then you know the pregnancy is failing :-/
it needs to be done in the clinic
Is it possible that babies are well, only stop growing and they will grow again?
it is possible that they did not get the measurements correctly and that they really are growing and you need to check again
Even if measures were performed by 2 different scanner's specialists?
there is human error
but this is a highly desired pregnancy- so I would get rechecked
that way you are never wondering.... what if?
Ok, so I will ask for the bhcg test, do they need to take one and then take another?
yes, 1 now and 1 in 48 hours
OK, if levels are increasing means pregnancy is still viable?
if the numbers are doubling, the pregnancy is still viable
now, ONE baby may make it
but the important thing is that the number is *****
Is this a blood or urine test?
I will check in with you in 1 week to find out what happened
What is the worse that can happen if I don't perform miscarriage procedure?
it may affect your ability to get pregnant again because there can be some scarring
of the uterus if you delay the procedure last 9 weeks
I personally would want to be cleaned out so I could get pregnant right away
So you recommend to get the test and make a decision ASAP?
I would recommend getting the lab test tomorrow and then in 2 days. then you will know what you need to do
you will have your answer then
and some closure...
OK, I think sounds reasonable
Can I get this through my GP doctor?
Hang in there.... I know this is SO tough :-/
So I can go with her and ask her to perform the test, or need an appointment with the nursery?
I think that you can just ask her
OK I will phone my GP straight away tomorrow morning.
will check in
did I provide you with excellent service?
Thank you for your advice, yes it was excellent
great. hang in there!
very helpful and useful
I will do as you suggest and then take a decision
It went well, I supposed...
I had the D&C procedure after confirming that I definitely had a retained misscarriage.
I had bledding for almost 2 weeks and now I am doing fine.
Thanks again for all your help! :)
