Painful dry eyes and pain down one side of the face can be caused by one of two causes.
The first is inflammation of the facial nerve. This nerve carries sensation from much of the muscles and tissues of the face and inflammation can cause pain on one side of the face. Sine it also affect the eye glands, there may be difficulty in production of teas as well as difficulty in closing the eyes properly.
The second cause is Trigeminal neuralgia or inflammation of the trigeminal nerve. It acts similar to the facial nerve and can cause similar symptoms.
