Kidney function down to 18% - how low before dialisis
Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Whenever kidney function fall below 15% dialysis is considered as an option to assist kidney function.
However, your age also has to be taken into consideration.
If you do not have any other significant symptoms, no excess fluid in the body, then your doctor may wait till it falls below 10%.
o it may take 2-3 years from now in that case.
Usually diuretics like Furosemide is tried to help with the fluid overload as first line treatment before resorting to dialysis.
Are you on any medication currently?
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
I am Dr Basu experienced in Metabolic Diseases.
