Hi, I need some help my 5 year old daughter will not go to the toilet in school or the child minders , so some days it's 12 hours without going to the toilet , she just refuses to go if she is not with me or at home . What can I do?
This is not an uncommon problem at all.
Is there any problem with this?
Soiling clothes, etc?

Hi, on one ocassion since she started school in September this year her underwear was lightly soiled one day. I have spoken to her about this and she just says " if I have to go to the toilet I will go and if I don't have to go I don't have to go " I feel maybe it's my fault as I would be very particular about a toilet been clean and I always clean her after she goes to the toilet , so really she never has to wipe herself after the toilet as I do this .
And has the pediatrician seen her?

No I have not brought her to the doctor yet.
You have to do that just to make sure there are no physical problems.
I don't think there are.
The more you push about this, the more it is likely to cause problems.
What you should do, besides taking her to the doctor, is to encourage her in exactly what she said....go if she needs to, don't go if she does not need to.
As long as she goes at home, she has plenty of time to adjust.
Support , encouragement, and non-judgement are key.
OK, so that is an initial answer….
