I am nearly 80, and over weight. Lately I have been experiencing swollen feet, ankles and legs in the evenings. I am concerned because next week I am going on a 12 hour flight. Is there something I could take to reduce the swelling, especially after a long flight?
Welcome to and thank you for your question.
I am going to assist you with your question. First I need a little more information-
Are you suffering from any medical condition or on any medication ?
Have you seen any doctor to investigate swelling in legs?
Do you have cramps in legs at night?
Kind Regards,

I take warfarin for atrial fibulation; flacanaide; bisoprolol; all for my heart. I have been having sciatic pain in the past, and chronic back pain. I have restless legs at night, but lately not many leg cramps at night. I sleep very badly.

Dear Customer, Thanks for providing quick additional information.
I can understand your concern.
Well, you can follow these measures, to avoid swelling in legs and feet at time of flight.
-You can take a a short walk every hour or so during flight.
-You should avoid crossing your legs.
-You should avoid alcohol and sedatives, during flight.
-You can Flex and extend your ankles and knees frequently while you're seated
-You should wear loose clothing and Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
-You can wear compression stockings during your flight.
Please follow above measures, and continue with your medications, as advised by your doctor.
