Doctor has told me my red cells are small. Platelets ok and I am nor anaemic!! She has also just told me, after looking back, that in 2010 and since, they were small but worse now.
My mum was diagnosed B12 deficient and had to have the injection every 12 weeks but she never felt any improvement from them. Doc says pernicious anaemia has big cells.
She wants to wait another 3 months to retest. I am 64 in June. I am glucose intollerant and obese. I wonder if one of the many prescription drugs is doing this? The most recent to be prescribed was Simvastatin in the 2000s.
I am very worried about this, my youngest son is exibiting similar symptoms yo myself and his father, my late husband died from acute myelobibrosis aged 60.

Hi. First off, what are your symptoms? Secondly, do you have the actual values of your entire complete blood count? And thirdly have you had a full anemia panel that would include things like total iron, ferritin level, and percent saturation with iron binding capacity?

Jount pain, muscle weakness palpitations headache foggy memory tingling fingers toes, toes blue. Twitching muscles in legs, swallowing problems, cramps on feet sore eyes and I have apnoea.
OK Pat but what about all the lab values I asked about?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Ferritin is satisfactory, platelets too its just the small red cells.

Hello, did you get my last answere? Think she mentioned 80 for ferritin.
OK Pat and we can continue after this if you'd like. First off, you may be iron deficient even without the anemia that usually accompanies that. This doesn't look like a dire problem with somthing like myelofibrosis though. You need a full panel to look at iron stores and total iron binding capacity since you probably need iron supplements for a time. I would just add that with your symptoms if you haven't had an autoimmune disorder screening with antinuclear antibody, rheumatoid factor, sed rate, and C reactive protein, I would get that screen

I think doc mentioned rheumatoid count was elevated recently too. I will speak to her about your other suggestions ad I have long since thought it autoimmune. I also think I have PCOS. Thanks for your help.
My pleasure Pat but let me know how it goes for you

Will do.
Take care
