That is a very clear and good picture. This seems most likely to be a soft tissue infection called as cellulitis which will most likely require treatment with antibiotics. Another possibility is that of arthritis.

One of the more common causes of this kind of arthritis (inflammation of a joint) is due to increased uric acid levels (gouty arthritis) or septic arthritis (which is infection of the joint).

So to summarize it could be:

1. Cellulitis

2. Arthritis.

The best possible option for you is that you need to go to the A&E to get this treated right away. You cannot possibly wait for a doctor's appointment to get this treated. So I would strongly recommend that you should go to the emergency.
