My 32 year old daughter has a boil at the top inside of her

This answer was rated:

My 32 year old daughter has a boil at the top inside of her leg, near her groin. It is about the diameter of a 5p piece and is almost black in colour. It burst this morning and as well as a bit of puss, she said a long ‘blood clot’ came out. It was about 10cm long and 1cm wide. Is this OK or should she see her GP? She was recently diagnosed as type 2 diabetic and is on 3 metformin a day.
Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
This is likely a skin bacteria infection resulting in boil.
In diabetics, the infection is common.
The large blood clot is likely from the underlying vein being infected.
Yes she should see her GP for a exam and also consider an antibiotic ointment or oral pill form.
Mupirocin topically can be used twice daily to heal the area faster.
Any other blood clot is unlikely since she does not have any leg swelling or thigh swelling.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
