By how Much does cea need to decrease to be working

Much does cea need to decrease for it to be working during chemotherapy ?
Hi there.
Thank you for your question.
I will be helping you out with your queries.
CEA needs to return to normal for the chemotherapy to have worked perfectly.
Normal levels are less than 2.5 I believe.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes . after 2 rounds it is 55 . Was 65 before chemo and 80 after round 1.

i am concerned as to why it went to 80 after round 1?does this mean it was not working ?

It rose to 80 because at times during the initial phase of chemotherapy levels can rise only to fall down subsequently.
This is because when the cancer cells are being destroyed initially there is release of CEA from the cells and when the cells die only then does the CEA starts to fall.
So a subsequent fall in CEA is something that is encouraging.
Kind regards
