Have not smoked for a week, now throat feels tight after 1smoke. Hard to breathe
Hello from JustAnswer.
It will help if you could provide some further information.
Have you ever had any lung problems related to the smoking?
Have you ever needed to use any inhalers for any such problem?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes i have a blue inhaler and a brown inhaler but i only use the blue one

When there is tightness in the throat after smoking, it is typically due to inflammation due to sensitivity to the smoke. The inflammation also can cause spasm of the airways.

It is good that you have these inhalers, as the usual management to relieve the inflammation would be steroids, and most often using a steroid inhaler. If the symptoms are more severe, then it would be appropriate to use an oral steroid, such as prednisone. The brown inhaler is a steroid inhaler, so it would be appropriate to resume taking the brown inhaler.

The blue inhaler is helpful for spasm, so would be OK to continue.

If the brown inhaler does not afford relief, then it would be appropriate to be seen for consideration of oral steroids.

If I can provide any further information, please let me know.

Have ta***** ***** inhaler now, how long roughly before i start to feel better?

It depends upon the severity of the inflammation. The blue inhaler will work on spasm very quickly, but the underlying inflammation will take longer, usually a few days to a week or so of regular use for resolution of symptoms.
