I have a dome shaped lump on my right side at the base of my ribs. It is about the size of half a tennis ball. It doesnt cause me any pain but looks unsightly. It appears to be just under the skin. An ultra sound scan shows nothing unusual. My gp is totally confused by it. He has told me to go back and see him in one month. I have now had it one month. It appeared a few days after coming back from a holiday in Spain. I attend a gym regularly but I havent trained since the lump appeared or 8 days while on holiday. I am male aged 69

is the lump soft or hard?

it could be a lipoma or benign fat mass if it is soft.

lipomas can blend in with your regular subcutaneous fat on ultrasound scan.

if you don't like the looks of it, you can see a surgeon to have it removed

but lipomas can stay there for a long time without problems.

you can go back to the gym if you want to
