My daughter has had a chesty cough for a week. So have her siblings. It wakes her up in the night a couple of times and also makes he short of breath during the day. I am worried about the shortness of breath. Is that normal with a chesty cough?

Shortness of breath is always something that MUST be evaluated.
If it is severe she must be seen in the ER.
It seems likely to be a lower respiratory infection and she may require an antibiotic course.
Most common cause of such symptoms is a viral infection though.
If it is mild then you can make an early appointment with her doctor.
But the bot***** *****ne is that she must be seen to rule out anything serious.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Kind regards
