i have a benign tumour on my lung, do i need any treatment, the doctors said they will just watch it, what does this mean.

Hi. I would assume this is a benign nodule but can you tell me a bit more please--

How large is it, how was it discovered, and are you a smoker?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I am a non smoker, the size is 1 1/2 cm, it was discovered by a CT scan.

OK. Then it's appearance must suggest it it a benign nodule--probably an old granuloma from a previous lung infection.

About 95% of these are totally benign and the standard of medical practice is to follow it with a ct scan every six months or thereabouts for a few years.

If it enlarges or it's appearance changes in that time period, then it is biopsied

Let me know if you need any more information about this please, Tracy
