This is Dr. Davidmedications like mucinex or guaifenesin or robitussin can help break up catarrhis she coughing the catarrh up from her lungs?she then needs a chest xray or chest CT scan to check her lungs to check for infection or pneumonia in her lungs.some patients can also aspirate fluids into their lungs when they swallow liquids like water of coffee or fluids. and this can trickle into the lungs and cause cough and catarrh.
