My skin itches randomly but mainly on legs and back. It only becomes a rash if I scratch it, but the rash will go if left alone. Difficult not to scratch.
Hi. Just to be clear here--the itch occurs without any rash at all at first?

How long has this been going on and have you had any tests for it?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi, No rash at first, going on for a couple of weeks, and have so far had no tests for it

OK Ray. Do you have any medical conditions?

And can you describe the rash that occurs once you scratch?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No medical conditions. I am on medication for a heart attack suffered 17 years ago. The rash goes red with small pimples, similar to what a nettle sting looks like h

OK Ray

This sounds like a type of atopic dermatitis called dermographism. It usually is self-limited and doesn't last for very long.

The main thing for now is not to scratch and I suggest you take a daily Zyrtec or Claritin for a couple of weeks. That should be all that's needed

That said, since I'm not your doctor, you should discuss this with him too
