My husband has been told that he needs carotid artery surgery. A year ago the narrowing was 50-60% and is now 70-75% Is the insertion of a stent more risky than a carotid endarterectomy?
Hi there.
Thank you for your question.
I will be helping you out with your concerns today.
I am sorry to hear about your problem.
The treatment of choice of this kind of narrowing i.e. more than 70% requires carotid endarterectomy.
Stenting is also an option that can be discussed with your doctor.
The standard treatment, however, still is endarterectomy.
