This answer was rated:

Hi had grommet insertion into left ear October 2015. To help ventilate inner ear due to mucus collecting.Week later felt very nasally when speaking. More like mucus build up. Didnt have a cold as far as aware.
Thereafter had facial pain and headaches, facially warm, the pain was really bad. Felt lightheaded to dizzy, pressure behind eyes, very tired.
My right ear which is normally not too bad. Does a time collect a little fluid behind ear drum. Although didnt bother me as much as the left ear.
The right ear feels as if blocked and ear drum not vibrating. I use steam and sterimar nasal saline spray
Been prescribe doxycycline 100mg 5 day course and vistamethasone nasal drops. Prscribed 9 November.
The lightheadedness is getting me down, the pain has eased but no clearly away as yet.
Around nasal area eyes forehead still felt area nasally dry no secreetions almost blocked although can breath fine.
At Hospital ent end of this month.
Will the dizziness clear as will my right ear unblock itself.
What has been the cause of my recent problem.
Can I flush nasal passage out ithe saline using syringe as have ear grommet.

I am sorry you are having such bad mucous and dizziness symptoms.

I am glad you are on antibitoics now and steroid nasal drops

but you might need more medications like an allergy pill like allegra (fexofenadine) 180mg or Claritin or Zyrtec, all of which are over the counter which can help decrease sinus inflammation and could help decrease mucous production.

also medications like mucinex (guaifenesin) can help break up mucous and help you clear mucous out of your system better

keep using the facial steam

if your symptoms are severe, you can use pseudophedrine 30-60mg to help clear your sinuses temporarily for about 8-12 hours. this can be used at night time to help you sleep until your sinus infection and sinus congestion symptoms improve
