Sweating and a dry mouth are non-specific symptoms that can occur in response to almost any infection, so it does not change that you need a stronger antibiotic.
The reason for a dry mouth from infection is related to decreased fluid status, even if not overtly dehydrated. It is common for fluid requirements to increase during infection. It would be reasonable to also be drinking a larger amounts of fluids in addition to the stronger antibiotics.
