My brother has transmyelitus and guillaine barre syndrome diagnosed

This answer was rated:

My brother has transmyelitus and guillaine barre syndrome diagnosed in August 2015. How do we go about referring him to the National Hospital for Neurology in London for a second opinion as he is stuck in Bedford Hospital, has been in critical care with heart failure, keeps receiving IVIg therapy and keeps getting severe anaemia. He was originally diagnosed at Addenbrookes and received initial therapy there for approximately 4 weeks then he was transferred back to Bedford where his condition has worsened tenfold and he is totally unable to walk - each time the physios try and get him to walk he relapses. He also has poor bowel and bladder control which has to be assisted via a catheter and enema. We think as a family he should be treated somewhere that specialises in this complex condition and if he needs to be moved elsewhere then so be it.
what does hospital staff say when you ask about it?

No one has put forward any care plan and were telling him he was going to be discharged home a few weeks ago.

We just need some active advice about a second opinion from a third independent medical professional.
you have a right to transfer him.You should ask and coordinate with hospital staffJust make your request known

What will happen if hospital staff refuse this request as no one so far has mentioned any alternative hospital or rationale for proceeding forward.
They won't mention it unless you ask. They can't refuse
