My dad is currently undergoing high dose chemo before

This answer was rated:

My dad is currently undergoing high dose chemo before having a bone marrow stem cell transplant to treat his Multiple Myeloma. He has the kappa light chain variation. His light chains were over 28,000 to begging with and are now down to under 400. Having read stories from others who have had successful transplants, they have experienced very strong side effects from this treatment, however my dad has had no side effects at all. My question is, does this mean that his chemo is not working as it should or having a lesser effect than it did on those who have had successful transplants?
Thank you
Hi there.
Thank you for your question.
I will be helping you out with your concerns today.
I am sorry to hear about your dad.
This does not at all mean that the chemo is not working.
Some people have more side effects and others have very few if any.
So this varies from person to person.
Having no side effects is a great sign.
So I am very hopeful that he will recover.
