I was prescribed sertraline 50mg /depression last

This answer was rated:

I was prescribed sertraline 50mg for anxiety/depression last week. I took 4 tablets. 1 a day for 4 days but then decided to discontinue with no taper . Since taking the tablets I have lost my ability to ejaculate and am distressed about this. I know about this side effect. It is 3 and a half days since I took the last tablet but still no ejaculation. Im 51 and male. How long could it take to return? How long do I give it until I go to my doctor for advice? Would it help to refrain from trying to ejaculate for a period? Does my age mean greater risk that it will not come back?
You talk to your doctor now.
By 72 hours you should have this out of your system.
You should not be stopping it without informing your doctor , and why.
ED has many causes
circulation problem in the penis
high blood pressure or high cholesterol
prostate disease
So, this is also an indication to see your doctor, to rule out other problems in the event that your sertraline use is incindental, and there is another problem.
OK, so that is an initial answer….
Please use reply to expert if you have further questions. When you are ready, please click a positive rating [hopefully excellent]. If you forgot something, come back. I am here daily.

I used this service to ask about stopping without a taper after 4 days and the other doctor said it would be OK to do so. he said that ejaculation would typically return after ceasing drug.

If your erections have not returned after 72 hours, there is likely another problem.

I have not lost erection but have lost ejaculation
If it is from the drug, then this should be wearing off after 72 hours.
Prostate disease can also cause this symptom.
And more rarely, the rest of the list I gave you.
Please review that list.
Please talk to your doctor.
If you have a question that has not been answered, let me know.
We are only paid per positive rating, for bonuses, and for accepted additional services offers.
Please review the list I gave you above.
If this problem does not go away, you definitely need further examination and testing.
Click a positive now [or accept the offer], and come back as needed.
Good luck.
