I am due to travel to the Domincan Republic in less than 4 weeks but 2 days before I travel I have my first appointment to start fertility treatment, I have been asking both my gp and the hospital that I'm going to do the fertility treatment at for advice on whether I should go or not, neither of them have given me advice as they are claiming they don't know enough about the Zika virus to do so. I don't know what else to do or where to go to get this advice? Could you help me? Thank you.
Hi there,This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.I am here to address your concerns and provide great service. There are clear warning signals posted in CDC wbsite --the US regulatory body for global travel.Zika virus infection presents as fever, rash, cough, body aches like any flu symptoms. But the virus can cause congenital deformities in case you become pregnant within 3 months of the infection.Due to this possibility, yo should avoid travelling to Dominican republic, any caribbean countries, and latin american countries till further information.Best wishes,It was my pleasure to help you today. If I have answered all your questions, Please rate my response Excellent (click on the 5th star). Please bookmark my profile for fast, reliable authentic answers! This is the link to my profile:

I wanted to know where to get advice as I need a doctor to write me a certified letter of i am not able to travel. I also came on a British website do things that are being said in the US don't really help me.
Here is the link from NHS dvisory clearly refraining pregnant women from travelling to affected areas: are the links from CDC and WHO both applicable to any country: take these publications to your doctor for the certified letter.Should not be difficult. Best wishes
