Hi, my daughter bumped her head a few days ago. It bled a little and she cried for a few seconds, but then kept on playing. I watched her and she hasn't been sick or lethargic or confused, but today out of nowhere she has a fever of 39degrees C (102.2 F). I gave her some paracetamol, but I'm worried. Could this have anything to do with her head bump?
Hi there,This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.Unlikely since head bump will not usually cause fever. Fever is likely due to the viral infection. However, if she complains of headache, or severe vomiting, or mental confusion, then the symptoms may be suggestive of meningitis. Clinical evaluation is still recommended although not likely related to head bump.
