I tumbled down two flights of stairs at Christmas time, apart from obviously feeling bruised all appeared ok. Couple of months later I felt a mild swelling/blockage low down in my throat like I had food stuck. Since then I've had an endoscopy and been given the all clear there. Soon after that I had this intense burning pain in my shoulder blade, I visited my gp who put it down to a muscle issue and gave me co-codamol for pain and some physio exercises to complete, I also took myself along to a chiropractor, my symptoms improved over a course of 3 weeks until recently for no apparent reason the pain has come back with a vengeance, along with burning pain across the top of my back, neck and head with a slight reduced sensation on my right hand side, I've currently stopped the chiropractor and am also now taking ibuprofen. What could this be and what can I do to help myself?? Thank you
Thanks for this question JulieThis is likely due to a disc in your cervical spine (neck) that is bulging out and pressing on a nerveYou need to have an MRI of the neck right away. This will reveal the problem.let me know if you have other questions.if done for now, please leave a positive rating above the chat box so I can get credit for helping you todaywe only get credit for helping clients after positive feedbackyou can always reach me with "a question for Dr. Phil" in the medicine, cardiology or pharmacy categories if you have any other questionshere is my website if you need to reach me again: for using

Ok thank you for that information, I wonder if you could tell me until I can arrange an MRI what I should/shouldn't be doing in terms of movement/activity and also what I could take from a medicinal pout of view to help relieve my pain, thank you
YOu should be doing nothing that involves twisting or pressure on the neck
YOu could try to get some physio for the neck

Ok that's great and what about medication to assist?
anti inflammatories like ibuprofen

Ok, I guess until an MRI reveals what's going on in pretty stuck for now other than to take it easy and use pain relief? Would you suggest me trying to obtain physio before an MRI ?
It is a reasonable option but the MRI would tell us exactly what is going on
