Here are the possible causes:

1. Bacterial infection

2. Prostate gland disorder --benign enlargement can cause urinary flow obstruction and urine tends to stay longer causing bladder overflow.

3. Lack of bladder sphincter control due to the neurological disease, spine problem, or from prior surgery

4. Overactive bladder due to the excessive contraction of the bladder detrusor muscles.

Treatment depends on underlying cause.
