Hi I have a question about my heart beat. I feel I'm skipping a beat. I got an ecg lately that was ok but I used heart rate app and it does show I'm skipping a beat I think. Is this a problem ?

Hello I'm Dr Chip

Is this new for you?

And how often is there a skipped beat?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It's fairly new. Maybe every 10-30 beats

And why did you get the ecg?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
My doc took an ecg and said I was ok
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Just as I felt the missed beat and asked about it
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
But it went away I think and is back. I just wondered if it's normal

Nothing too serious here

These are likely premature atrial contractions and since they aren't coupled--occurring twice together--it isn't at all likely you'll go into what's called paroxysmal atrial tachycardia where your rate rises to over 200 beats per minute

Sometimes it's a sign of a potassium or calcium level deficiency in the blood so if I were your doctor, I would check for that

It isn't a sign of coronary artery disease or an impending heart attack
