On Wednesday l9th April, I am due to have a hip replacement

Customer Question

Good afternoon. On Wednesday l9th April, I am due to have a hip replacement
(I am 74 years old), but I suffer from bronchilisatis and seems to have started up, with
bard coughing and chest - which I hardly feel like an operation.
do you think they would still operate. And, I am self funding and have paid a lot of
money already for the operation. Wanted it done quickly because I have a 99 year old
mother to look after.
After paying out a lot if money to the private hospital, and worried that if operation is
cancel, I will loose the money - which I cannot afford to do.
I would welcome your comments please

Hello there. It is not likely they will proceed with the surgery if you are ill, since it is an elective procedure. In addition, if you are sick at the time of procedure, there is risk of infection of the joint.

I would assume that you would not lose your money by rescheduling. There will be an extended period of recovery during which you will not be able to provide care for your mother, I hope you have help with that.
