I've had a mouth ulcer for 8-9 days. I had a trauma to my mouth when my son through his head back and hit my mouth so I'm pretty sure this is what caused it. The ulcer was
Quite painful for a few days but the pain has now gone. I think the ulcer is now smaller and the redness on the outside has reduced but the small white circle is still there and I'm a bit worried

This is Dr. David. I am reviewing your question now and will be with you momentarily.

sorry about the trauma to the area

it sounds like it is getting better slowly

the pain is better.

and the ulcer is smaller

everyone heals at their own rate

eating more protein and fruits and vegetables can help you heal

you do your healing at night time when you sleep. are you getting proper sleep?

smoking and alcohol can slow down the healing process.

I probably don't get enough sleep
Is it likely to be anything to worry about such as oral cancer? The pain was bad for about 4-5 days but no pain atall now

no, it would not be oral cancer

I am a cancer doctor

oral cancers don't heal up on their own

oral cancers would get worse and bleed until you got cancer therapy.

that is good the pain is better now

work on eating more protein and fruits and vegetables.

even though the white circle has not yet gone is ok?
I assume the fact that it was painful and is not now ruled out a cancerous ulcer?

yes, that white circle is part of your body's healing tissue.

yes, the improvement of the pain and partial healing so far rules out a cancerous ulcer.

you don't have a cancerous ulcer

One last thing, how long should it take until th white circle disappears

it could take 2-4 weeks to heal, and in some patients, it can take longer.
