Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Hi there.Thank you for your question.I will be helping you out with your concerns today.
Does not seem likely to be anything serious.
There are two possibilities:
1. It could be an infection of one of the teeth in your oral cavity.
2. There could be a blockage in one of your salivary glands --- the parotid gland --- which could be causing the infection.
You will likely require an antibiotic to have this treated.
I would recommend that you be seen for this and be treated.
Meanwhile, I would recommend using over-the-counter ibuprofen 200 mg three to four times a day for pain.
I would definitely recommend that you should see your GP for further evaluation
