Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Do you have any pain in the neck?
Any numbness in the arm?
How is the left side of your face (when you smile)? Your left leg?
I'm sorry -- is that no to all 4 questions?
Sorry, I'm not able to call, we can continue here.
OK, well -- sudden weakness in the left arm is concerning.
Two possible reasons.
1. Stroke -- so this could be a potential emergency, I would seek medical attention for this ASAP.
2. An issue with the spinal cord in the neck -- where spinal cord compression or nerve compression could be the cause of weakness -- not as urgent as a stroke, but still something that should be evaluated right away.
Please go get this checked out right away.
With the sudden onset of numbness and weakness in the arm, I'm worried about a small stroke here. Please get checked out immediately.
If it has recovered, I'm worried about "TIA" -- transient ischemic attack.
Often called a "mini-stroke" -- it can be a precursor to a real stroke.
Please get checked out.
