hey, I have gotten myself in a bit of an irrational state and I just want to talk to a doctor to get some reassurance
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: I haven't seen a doctor and I've been using an anti fungal cream
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: no

Hello. I'm Dr Chip
How may I help you with this?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
hello
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I have had balanitis on my penis before and using anti fungal cream has helped clear it up
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
it does however return and even when it's not itchy or sore at all, I still notice a little redness on my foreskin
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I just wanted to be reassured as it is stressing me out

Can you post a picture of that for me on this page?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
will it remain private?

Yes

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
ok here you go

Got it--hold on please

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
it really looks like nothing right now I feel a bit silly even asking....

How long have you had that?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
a few of weeks, on and off but the anti fungal cream has helped
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I had a couple of years ago too
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
but it went away just with some better hygiene practice
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
this time the anti fungal cream has expedited things
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I read it's quite common in uncircumcised men

That's not balanitis at this point and you don't need the antifungal cream

In fact the cream may have caused it

What you've got now is an atopic dermatitis situation

Nothing serious and not an infection

I suggest you try over the counter topical hydrocortisone cream and a vitamin E cream both applied together for two weeks to clear that up

Please let me know if you need any more information

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
you suggest I stop applying the cream? what could have caused the atopic dermatitis

Yes--you no longer need the cream and as I said I think it caused the atopic dermatitis

Please remember to rate my service to you

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I will surely rate you! I definitely shouldn't worry then? :D :D

Nothing at all to worry about--this isn't dangerous and it's easily treated

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I was going to make an appointment with my local GP at the health centre, do you think I don't need to now?

All you need are my suggestions

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
in the future, do you have any tips in how I can distinguish balanitis from this? just so I don't misuse the anti fungal cream again?

Balanitis is redder, rougher, and it either burns or itches

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
that's how it started but I guess excess zeal with the cream caused this now.... Is it safe to have sex with this? or would friction make it worse?

Sex is fine--it won't make this worse
