My daughter is 19yr old and having tremor since few years that was diagnosed as familial tremor. But now it’s getting worse. She can’t even hold the fork while she eats, finds difficulties wearing short heals

Customer: she booked appointment with a GP they gave her a phone appointment after 2 weeks

That was written by my mother but I made the account so now you are directly speaking to me the patient

I would like to add that lately I have been experiencing balance problems when I walk or do things I used to be able to do before. For example it’s harder to walk in heels. I have gotten blood tests for my thyroid and bloody sugar as well as blood pressure and they’re all normal

Have your doctor advised any MRI of the brain?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No he has not

Have you been to any neurologist yet?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Yes I have and he prescribed the beta blockers for me
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
That as I mentioned did not help maybe because they were only 10 mg but I don’t know why they did not help that much

Thanks for the details

In my opinion there are two ways to address your current issue

One is to get an MRI first and look for any secondary reason for your symptoms

If that is normal then you need an increase in dose of beta blockers

Secondly you can start by increasing the dose of beta blockers and see the response in few weeks and if it does not get better then go for an MRI

A dose of 10mg is too low and needs to be increased

Please do let me know if you have any other question

I have stopped taking the beta blockers a while ago what dose do you recommend ?
It’s propanolol
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I forgot the exact dose now so I’m not sure how much to take

You should take 10 mg twice daily

But it can be easily increased up to 80 mg daily

Please do let me know if you have any other question

How is it possible to get an MRI done here in the UK
