my son has a raised bump on top of his head and complains of pain sometimes
JA: The Pediatrician can help. Just a couple quick questions before I transfer you. Where is your son feeling the pain the most? Has he had symptoms anywhere else?
Customer: on top of his head near the soft spot in babies, just that part only. he complains when I wash his head when bathing and also when brushing his hair
JA: How long has he been dealing with the spot? Is this a repeating or first-time issue?
Customer: we noticed the raised bump from when he was one year old after I cut his hair
JA: Anything else in his medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: he has various allergies to dairy, nuts, fish, sesame seeds, eggs, kiwi fruit

Hello. I'm Dr Chip
Could you please post a picture of that for me on this page?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
The photos I have don't really show it well

Can you fully describe it for me?

And has a doctor ever looked at it?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
It's just raised and it I'd just today when he complained again when I started thinking about it as to why? I have never really thought of mentioning to the doctor

How large is it?

Any redness?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No sorry I can not afford £34 right now

No problem

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
About 3-4 cm, no redness.

And it's tender?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
he does complain occasionally that it is tender, especially when I wash his head or brush the hair

Well it's a little difficult since I can't examine him

But it sounds like a benign pilar cyst that forms around a hair follicle

It's nothing worrisome but if it's getting tender it may be getting infected so you need to have his doctor check it out to see if he needs a course of oral antibiotics

The cyst itself can be gotten rid of with a cortisone injection

Please let me know if you need any more information

Hi it doesn't look like a cyst it just looks like a raised bone in the part of the head
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I have attached a photo I have ...not sure you can view it.

Got it but I really can't tell much from that

But I don't think it's a raised bone

And I don't think it's anything serious--just have his doctor check it out

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Ok, thanks

My pleasure--any time
